FAQ

Do the criteria also contain requirements for sustainable management of the certified companies (environmentally friendly packaging/ environmentally friendly production processes/ waste disposal/ hygiene etc.)?

Natural cosmetics are primarily made from renewable raw materials of vegetable origin (fatty oils, plant extracts, essential oils etc.) taking into account the type of cultivation and hence they are fundamentally based on sustainability. The packaging must be kept at a minimum according to the NaTrue criteria.

No environmental problems from production or disposal are to be expected because of the raw materials used. For the purposes of product and consumer safety, high hygiene standards must be complied with in the production of natural cosmetics whereby the necessary processes can indeed be carried out in an environmentally friendly manner (e.g. cleaning with superheated steam).

More detailed information can be obtained from the environmental or sustainability reports of the manufacturers.
