FAQ
Why is there a need for complicated calculations and tables to classify natural and organic cosmetics? Couldn't they be defined more simply?
A simple example illustrates this very well. Consumers expect a body care oil to have a high concentration of natural or even controlled organically grown ingredients if it is to meet the requirements of a natural or organic cosmetic. However, high concentrations of natural substances could easily be obtained simply by diluting products with also naturally occurring water.
To prevent this from happening, different concentrations of raw materials are necessary and desirable in the various product groups. In order to better reflect the characteristics of the different product formulations, the specific requirements of the individual product categories were taken into account and binding minimum or maximum levels for natural and derived natural substances were set. Taking into account the current state of technology for various product groups like perfumes, skin care emulsions or dental care products, the tables serve to guarantee as high as possible levels of natural substances or ingredients from controlled organic production.
