FAQ

Why is it that only the surfactants have to be fully biodegradable – why not the other derived natural substances too?

When it comes to derived natural ingredients, it is above all surfactants that are used in larger amounts. As a consequence of their use in cleaning products, when products are rinsed they then directly enter wastewater. Consequently, it was important for NaTrue to call for good environmental compatibility for these substances. Hence only those substances are accepted as surfactants by NaTrue which are fully biodegradable in accordance with the OECD Guidelines 301 A–F.
