FAQ
How much does it cost to certify a product?
In principle the following applies: "The certification of a label is a not-for-profit enterprise". This makes it clear that NaTrue does not pursue any financial interests.
The highest costs are generated by the independent certifier who invoices his examination work to the manufacturers. The amount of the invoice depends on the amount of work involved in certification, i.e. on the number and complexity of the formulations to be examined, the raw materials contained therein and the number of production sites to be examined.
For each product usually takes about two hours to check the documentation and to see whether it is complete and correct. Roughly one day must be calculated for an on-site examination of production (for the first product at this production site, then again one year later. More detailed information on the certification procedure can be accessed here).
In addition, NaTrue receives a sum of 80-150€. This is graded according to the number of products to be certified: 1-20 = 150€; 21-50 = 120€; 51-100 = 100€; from 101 = 80€. All of which contributes towards the costs of consumer communication, the scientific committee and administration.
NaTrue assumes the costs for additional random examinations of certifications, which guarantee a uniform standard.
